RMA AUTOMOTIVE CAMBODIA ASSEMBLY FACILITY OPENS

RMA Group have opened a state-of-the art Assembly Facility of Ford Vehicles in Cambodia, situated on a 40,000m² site in Krakor District, Pursat Province. The Fordcertified Assembly Facility follows Ford’s global standard processes and quality criteria.

The RMA Group is a long term investor in Cambodia and amongst its goals is to support the development of the country as a whole.  The total investment of over USD20 million adds to RMA Group’s substantial investment in the country.

Known as RMA Automotive Cambodia (RMAAC), the facility is strategically located in a growing industrial corridor to the west of the country and 150km from Phnom Penh. By choosing a decentralized location, RMA Group is supporting the Cambodian Government’s initiatives to spearhead regional development with new investments and the creation of new jobs.

RMAAC Assembly Facility is tooled for the manufacture of Ford’s popular Ranger and Everest models. The Ford Ranger is Cambodia’s most sold vehicle and the new facility is designed to meet this customer demand together with the increased sales forecast for the all-new Next-Generation Ranger and Everest which both launch in 2022.

RMAAC’s 40,000m² site houses the production area, warehouse, parking yard, an administration center with offices, staff canteen and medical center. The production area contains advanced tooling and machinary for vehicle assembly of various platforms, highly technological facility assembly lines, paint booths, Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES);  special test facilities  for Quality Assurance with a vehicle test track, water leak test facility and end of line tests facility and advance diagnosis systems.

General Manager of RMAAC Virote Sawangchange, remarked on the extraordinary pace of the development. œWe laid the foundations to the building in March 2021 and moved in one year later. We worked as a cohesive and close knit unit drawing from our expertise all across the RMA Group. Cambodian Government authorities provided excellent support and guidance for approval procedures and certificates. We are extremely excited to be providing so many new jobs for  a range of workers and that we’ll be stimulating  the local economy in such a positive way. 

RMAAC will employ several hundred permanent employees. Recruitment will be largely from local technical institutions supporting the Cambodian automotive industry.  RMAAC have developed an extensive skills training program in cooperation with RMA Cambodia and local technical institutes. The program is designed to produce highly skilled resources through knowledge and technology transfer derived from a world class assembly setup. This upskilling though knowledge sharing  is a blueprint for the overall development of individuals and connected communities.

Expected output capacity lies at 9,000 vehicles per year. The RMAAC assembly facility lays the foundation for an exciting new era in the modern automotive industry of Cambodia.
