December 1st, 2017 Vientiane – Lao Ford City proudly sponsored the WIG Bazaar held by WIG Laos, a non-profit organization aimed at creating opportunities to better the lives of communities in Lao PDR, on November 11th 2017 at the National University of Laos, Faculty of Engineering.
Ford supports a number of NGOs and organizations in the fields of education, poverty alleviation, human rights promotion, and sustainability that share Ford’s commitment to enable local communities to go further. The Ford Foundation itself is one of the world’s biggest private organizations, and they announced this April to committing up to $1 billion more in endowments from $12 billion over the next 10 years. Lao Ford City holds the same level of dedication to advancing human welfare.
Formerly known as Women’s International Group, WIG Laos is a group of volunteers from all backgrounds that strive to create opportunities and projects benefiting Lao society. The WIG Bazaar event is a charity that raises funds for women and children in rural areas. Held every November, the bazaar is a highlight of the Vientiane calendar, gathering over 15,000 visitors a day. The event features entertainment, games, vendors selling a wide array of crafts, products and food as well as exhibits from International NGOs and diplomatic missions.
Sponsoring the event, Lao Ford City also contributed donations to WIG Laos, furthering the non-profit organization’s capacity to aid women and children in the country.
“At Lao Ford City, we believe in making impactful contributions to the country of Laos and are proud to work with an organization that shares Ford’s dedication to advancing human welfare,” stated Ayaka Vu, Marketing & Special Segment Manager, Lao Ford City.
In addition, a Ford Ecosport was showcased at the event, giving locals and expats a glimpse of Ford’s vehicle development expertise in designing an affordable SUV that is perfectly suited for driving around the city and makes trips enjoyable for the whole family.
